My artistic journey begins
My love of art started at a young age and grew into attending weekly workshops in my early twenties. I was lucky to learn from an accomplished older artist who had trained in the traditions of the Heidelberg School and taught me the fundamentals of painting with oils.
As the years went by, work and family naturally became my main focus, but I never completely put my paintbrush away. Whenever I could, I found time to paint and stay connected to my creative side.
Now that I’m retired, I’ve happily returned to my passion and feel as though I’ve picked up right where I left off. I especially enjoy working with acrylics, oils and watercolours, but I’m always keen to try something new. For me, creativity is all about exploring, learning and enjoying the journey.
Inspired by the Australian landscape
My greatest inspiration comes from the beautiful Australian countryside around my home in Northeast Victoria. We’re surrounded by farms and stunning bushland that transform with each passing season. I'm captivated by the play of light on different subjects, a theme you’ll often see in my work. Beyond the bush, I also have a deep love for seascapes and the diverse beauty that travel brings to my art.
Capturing calm and beauty
Through my art, I aim to evoke a feeling of calm and a deep appreciation for our beautiful country. I hope my paintings, especially my Australian landscapes and seascapes, bring delight in the natural beauty that surrounds us. Each stroke is an effort to share the tranquility and wonder I find in these environments.
